Understanding your body.
Exploring your nervous system.
Finding new ways to meet stress and change.
A six-week small-group practice exploring the body, breath and nervous system through gentle movement and awareness — no experience needed.
THE SLOW DOWN™ Body Regulation Practice is a small-group, 6-week body-based practice for exploring what happens in our bodies when life feels stressful, demanding or uncertain — and discovering different ways of responding.
Life changes.
Our relationships change.
Our work changes.
Our families change.
Our health changes.
Our bodies change.
Sometimes, we sense that something needs to change without quite knowing what.
THE SLOW DOWN™ offers a space to slow down, notice what is happening within you, and reconnect with your body.
Through simple, gentle movement, breathing and body awareness, we explore how stress, emotions and life experiences can be felt in the body — and discover different ways of responding.
There is nothing to achieve and nothing to get right. You can move, pause, adapt or simply notice.
It is a small-group practice: a chance to spend time with yourself, in your body, alongside others.
THIS IS FOR YOU IF YOU...
experience periods of stress, tension or feeling overwhelmed
feel that you spend a lot of time in your head and want to reconnect with your body
are navigating a period of change or transition
want to understand your own responses more deeply
are curious about the relationship between body and mind
would like practical ways to support your own well-being
would like to explore this in a supportive small group
You don't need to have any previous experience of body work, meditation, yoga or mindfulness.
And you don't need to be "good" at any of it.
There is nothing to perform and nothing to get right.
THE SIX-WEEK PRACTICE
WEEK 1 - Understanding my nervous system
What is happening in my body when I experience stress?
We begin by exploring how our nervous system responds to everyday life — what happens in the body when we feel settled and safe, and what can happen when we experience stress or pressure.
We'll introduce the Window of Tolerance — the range in which we are generally able to feel present, connected and able to respond. We'll explore how we can recognise when we are becoming more activated or, alternatively, more withdrawn or disconnected.
Through simple grounding, orientation and gentle movement, we'll begin to notice what is happening in our bodies in real time — without judgement and without needing to change anything.
WEEK 2 - Coming Home to the Body
What am I noticing in my body?
We turn our attention towards sensation, movement, posture, tension and physical boundaries.
For many of us, life can become very head-led. This session offers an opportunity to slow down, move gently and reconnect with the physical experience of being ourselves.
Through simple movement and body-awareness practices, we'll explore what we notice — without needing to analyse, fix or change it.
WEEK 3 - Breath, Change & The Body
How does my body respond to change?
We explore breath, sound and gentle movement as ways of noticing what is happening in the body.
Change can affect us in ways we don't always immediately recognise — whether it's a change in work, relationships, identity, family life or our sense of what comes next.
This session offers space to notice how change is experienced in the body, and to explore what helps us stay connected to ourselves as things around us change.
WEEK 4 - Stress, Relationships & Tension
How do stress and relationships show up physically?
Stress doesn't only live in our thoughts. We can experience it physically too.
We'll explore how stress and tension can show up in the body, and notice what happens physically when we encounter situations that feel demanding — whether through relationships, responsibility, caring for others or simply the pressures of everyday life.
The emphasis is on curiosity rather than analysis, noticing what the body is telling us without needing to work out why.
WEEK 5 - From Reaction to Response
What happens in the space between reaction and response?
We all develop familiar ways of responding to stress, pressure and difficult situations. Sometimes we react before we've had a chance to notice what is happening.
This session explores the possibility of creating a little more space between what we experience and what we do next, using gentle movement, breathing and body awareness.
We'll explore what it feels like to pause, notice what is happening within us, and consider whether there might be another way to respond.
WEEK 6 - Integration
What have I discovered, and how can I take it forward?
We bring together what you've discovered throughout the practice.
Identify the practices that genuinely feel useful to you and consider how you might bring them into everyday life.
We'll finish with time to reflect, connect and share tea together.
A SMALL GROUP EXPERIENCE
This is a personal practice, held within a small, supportive group. You'll be guided through the same practices as everyone else in the room, but what you notice and experience throughout is entirely your own.
We meet for 90 minutes each week for six weeks. See times below.
Each session combines an introduction to the theme, gentle body-based exploration — including movement, breath, grounding and sensory awareness — and time to notice what you experience for yourself.
This is a small-group practice, not group therapy. The sessions are primarily experiential rather than discussion-based. You will be guided through practices and given space to notice and reflect on your own experience. There is no expectation to share personal experiences, and you won't be asked to talk about anything you would prefer to keep private.
Everything is invitational. You can pause, adapt or simply observe any practice at any time. There is no right way to experience the work.

ABOUT CAROLINA
THE SLOW DOWN™ Body Regulation Practice has grown out of my work as an integrative psychotherapist and my interest in bringing greater awareness of the body into psychological work.
I am a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist with an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy from the Metanoia Institute in London, and I am currently completing further training in nervous system regulation. My therapeutic approach recognises that psychological experience is not separate from physical experience — that the way we think, feel and relate is also experienced through the body.
THE SLOW DOWN™ Body Regulation Practice brings this work into a community setting, offering an accessible way to explore the relationship between body and mind through body-based awareness, gentle movement, breath, grounding and reflection.
It is an opportunity to slow down, become curious about what is happening in your body, and discover new ways of meeting stress, change and everyday life.
